Description:
An early creamware jug featuring a transfer of a ship, flying the ensign, in full sail and on the reverse another transfer showing a dejected woman, sitting by an anchor and luggage, on the harbour front while her love sails away. A verse from Alexander Pope 'Hope Springs Eternal In The Human Breast' within a 'starburst' surround sits above.
Circa 1790
Approx - 7 inches (180mm) tall.
In fair to good condition with nibbles to the base and paint losses throughout, with a restored spout.
